Summer Farm Staff
We are looking to hire two people to join our crew for the 2019 farm season who are excited about family, food, faith, and farming.
Summer staff are involved in all aspects of running the farm, from helping to plan the growing season to preserving and selling the harvest (and everything in between!). They also play an integral role in planning and running kids’ activities for our young guests to get them excited about all things farming and food. The summer crew will be encouraged to look for new ways to improve the farm and new projects to develop.
We seek to strengthen, educate, and encourage young adults in their faith so that they might go out and do likewise in their families, relationships, and communities. While we work on the farm we will explore the role of faith and spirituality in food and sustainability, and look at how that knowledge practically impacts our day-to-day lives and walk with Christ. We’ll dive into some writings and video from our favourite theologians and farmers to help spark and frame the conversations we have with each other and guests as we work across the garden bed from each other.
We are always looking for motivated and mature young adults in their 20's. Experience in farming is not required. An excellent work ethic, great attitude, deep and solid faith, and a passion for producing amazing food is. Summer farm staff live closely with each other and with the rest of camp staff, so a sense of humour, flexibility, and a cooperative, team-focused personality are all important traits.
The positions begin at the start of May and run through the summer until the end of August, with opportunities to stay until the end of the harvest at the end of October. The farm crew is led by our farmers, Kim and Christoph. Farm staff will live on-site in provided staff housing. An honorarium is available for the summer months equal to our summer staff honorarium ($4000 for June - August) with a weekly stipend available for May. Room and board are provided for the duration of the position.
